Steadfast‘ is an aerial photo of the Obelisk, located in Robe, South Australia.

The photo depicts the harsh and treacherous coastline and how precarious the Obelisk is to becoming another causality to the unforgiving nature of the southern ocean.

Robe is a town and fishing port located on the Limestone Coast of South Australia. The obelisk was built on Cape Dombey in 1852 to help ships navigate safely into the bay. Even so, there have been a number of shipwrecks along the coast in the area. An automatic lighthouse was built on higher ground in 1973, which can be seen in the foreground of this photograph. The town’s distinctive combination of historical buildings, ocean, fishing fleets, lakes and dense bush is widely appreciated by locals and visitors.

Robe is a regular family holiday location for me; the surrounding landscapes provide many photographic opportunities, none more so than the famous Obelisk.

260gsm premium white satin lustre paper is used in conjunction with Epson Ultrachrome archival inks to produce beautifully rich, vibrant colours and deep blacks.
