“Silt Tree‘ is an aerial photograph of silt moving across the surface of the water. Silt Tree was located at Lake Tyrell, Victoria, Australia.
While flying across the various ponds and the lake itself, I saw a highlighted bright white section of the landscape; on closer inspection, I discovered a mass of silt moving across one of the many ponds surrounding the lake. While photographing the silt and forming patterns in the silt, my eye was drawn to a formation that looked a lot like a tree. The moving silt moving past the saltbush created a trail from the soil surrounding the saltbush to create a tree-like pattern. The formation only lasted about 2 mins before the shifting silt swallowed up the pattern created.
The photograph is printed on 310gsm 100% cotton rag archival paper. Other printing options are available, including size, matts, frames, and canvas. Please message me for customised options and costings.
