‘Curiosity ‘ is an abstract aerial photograph of a Salt Lake located on the Yorke Peninsula.

I was drawn to beautiful colours but more to the pattern formation underneath the water; this led me to investigate why this occurs in salt lakes…Apparently, if the difference in salinity is high enough, the saltier water near the surface begins to sink downwards, while fresher water rises from below. The salty and less salty water circulates and forms convection rolls beneath the surface. When several of these convection rolls develop next to each other in the ground, they are “squeezed” together and produce hexagonal, honeycomb-like patterns.

The photograph is printed on 310gsm 100% cotton rag archival paper. Other printing options are available, including size, matts, frames, and canvas. Please message me for customised options and costings.
